What you need to know

1.  We do not house the guinea pigs in one location; we use foster homes for urgent situations or ask owners to foster their own pigs (aka hold on to them) until an adoptive home can be found. Please allow time for this to happen if you can. Sometimes it takes a while to find the right home.

2.  We need a Rehoming Form and a photo in order to post them to our Google Drive  or include them in any Adoption Events.

Procedure for Rehoming

1. Click on Rehoming and fill out the form. Hit Submit at the bottom. Someone will contact you shortly.

2. Email your best, single photo with all pigs shown in it to gpsguineapigs@gmail.com with the pig(s)' names in the subject line and/or yours.

3.  Indicate if you'd like to also include them in an Adoption Event. It is not required but does increase their visibility and so, their chances of being adopted. We need a minimum number of adoptable pigs in order to put together a show.

4. Include any relevant info in the open field. Things like favourite veggies and activities are a bonus. Focus on what an adoptive family might like to know. Please be honest when it comes to health problems. We can't help them if we don't know about these things, and a happy adopter is a well-informed adopter. Not all health issues will mean they won't get adopted, but no one likes frightening and expensive surprises! We reserve the right to exclude requests that are found to include deliberately false or misleading information.

5. Your picture of the pig(s) along with a brief bio from the form will be posted on the FB page for potential adopters to see. If an interested adopter contacts us, arrangements will then be made with you for the adopter to meet them. If their Adoption Application has already been approved, they would be able to adopt right away. Every effort will be made to have a GPS representative present for any meetings. There may be times, however, when this is not possible, due to distance or time constraints.

6. Once your pig(s) are up on our drive (and/or facebook), we ask that you cease any efforts to rehome on your own. If you would like to do it on your own, submit a withdrawal request and wait for a response. This way, adopters who express an interest can know for sure that the pigs they see on the page are, and will be available to adopt.

7. If, at any time, you wish to withdraw  your request for rehoming, you must do so by filling in a Withdrawal Request, a minimum of 48 hours in advance of when you wish them to be withdrawn. If special circumstances require a shorter time frame, please indicate this on the form.
